Welcome Home
-Terry Tip-ac
May I ask you a question? Have you been to Balili? If yes, then good! If no, come I’ll take you to our place.
If you’re at the Plaza, ride the jeep which will go to Balili. You’ll pass Tubo, Palatong then Madaymen which is wide and has no trees in the center but around it, it just lay there empty with the tiny cemented path that splits it’s dry texture. After that, you’ll approach the river road, water comes from the other side. Then you’ll pass the road going to Bato, the road is shaded from the trees that you can find yourself relax. More curves then you’ll approach Eset, there was once a firm rock designed “welcome to Barangay Balili” which stood ther, I guess it’s not that firm that’s why it was torn down by the landslide caused b typhoon Ondoy.
You’ll pass houses then sooner the road will become smoother then there is Bay-o, there you can view the vegetable gardens and their high school buildings and ground which is slightly different from the Mankayan National High School, if rain has passed you can witness the fog coat the road and the gardens looked like farms of fogs. There are also houses, stores and rocks which are unusually big especially the one beside the wooden bridge that looks out at a tree and gardens also the river below the bridge that often dries out on the summer.
Two rounds more and you’ll pass the old and un kept cemetery, there’s a tomb there that attracts attention with one look with it’s mossy sides and fronts but the cross still stands amazingly. Few steps upward then you’ll see the pink and blue-green colored Church., beside it stood the simple bungalow where Lola Doctora used to live but she passed away two years ago which I recall to be adorned with her big sunflowers, pink blossoms, flowers radiantly standing in her garden. Not far from there stood the tall pine tree before the tiny store, then ask the driver to kindly halt. You’re here but not yet. Follow the path and there will be huge houses like the one on the right side, painted brown and white- a real house on the fairy tales. Further are the trees with stretching branches and under it is a big rock where you can sit and the ground is neatly matted with green grass and red petals. Continue following the path then there’s a clearing head straight then you’re on top of a hill, the elementary school, more houses and trees are at your sight.
Run the path down, thre will be a bungalow with yellow bells, anthurium, orchids on it’s surrounding. There’s the sweet Mary’s grotto near the fish pond. It’s not home yet.
Rooms with walls vandalized, windows broken and open doors with old armchairs inside, was the Old High school building, walk pass it. Follow your right then the elementary’s basketball area will be on sight. The first house from your right, with two old parked vehicles on it’s playground. A two- storey with red paint on the railings, green window pales there it is, my home-welcome
